Larry was attending Fort Collins High School when he first began working for his father in the family’s downtown shoe store, Vogue Bootery.  That was in 1952- 57 years ago! Larry and his wife Nancy owned the bootery from 1973 to 1983.  At that time he sold the store and began to work for Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. when it was on Oak Street.  He has been with the company ever since.  He loves his customers.  “Their parents brought them in and I put their baby shoes on.  In time these young people bring their kids in, and those kids bring their kids in - they stick with me all of those years.  It’s fun to see how they all grow up.”

Mike first began working for Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. in Longmont, Colorado in 1974.  His career has taken him to three states. He owned his own store in Grinnell, Iowa.  In all he’s been with the company 31 years; four of those years have been in Fort Collins.  Mike specializes in working with customers with difficult foot problems.  Part of his training came from Norm Holmes, who worked for the original Mr. Brown, the founder of the company.  Over the years many foot doctors have referred patients with splints, braces or other serious impediments to him.  “My customers can count on me to help their feet feel better - which in turn makes everything feel better,” says Mike.

Sherri has been with us since 2006. Along with being a shoe sales woman, Sheri is a certified medical assistant.  She enjoys helping people become healthier and feel better.  For four years she has brought those priorities to work with her at Brown’s Shoe Fit Co.  “If your feet hurt,” says Sherri, “you can’t do anything. Nothing else works.  I help them get back on their feet.” Like all the other salespeople at the Fort Collins store, she has established her own following.  Customers return and ask for her by name. “It’s great to know that they appreciate my service,” she says.

Ginny has worked in retail for many years.  It can be fast-paced and stressful - but not at Brown’s Shoe Fit Co.  “I love it here,” She adds, “And my co-workers are awesome.” Ginny has a personal fondness for fine footwear, especially dress boots with high heels.  She has purchased her share! “And I have to admit,” she says, “that my grandson has the best shoes for a five-year old that you’ve ever seen.”

Scott was the assistant manager of a Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. in Spencer, Iowa for two years.  He served in that same position for six years in Loveland, Colorado.  He has worked in the Fort Collins store for more than three years.  Scott loves to travel.  He holds a certificate in airline and travel management from Spencer (Iowa) School of Business.  Brown’s shoe customers come from all over the world and he enjoys learning things from them.  Scott is committed to treating his customers as he would want to be treated himself.  He said, “We give people a lot of choices. It’s rewarding and fun.  That’s why we’re here.”

Cass  likes good shoes.  One day he was shopping at Brown’s Shoe Fit Co., he asked for a job, and he got it!  He enjoys meeting new people and learning new things from them.  This has incledde new and different political views, how to evaluate a good watch from a poor one and woodworking with a lathe.

Sarah has a busy life.    “I like the fact that the store is employee owned,” she says.  “It has a family feel.”  Her goal with customers is to help them have fun while shopping.  “We have a lot of choices, shoes to fit every mood and personality.”  In her spare time, Sarah enjoys kickboxing, working out, and hiking.  He favorite shoes are outdoor and athletic footwear.

Josh is the Assistant Program through Browns where after training as the assistant manager he will move on to own his own store.

Jim began his career with Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. while he was still in high school in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  He then attended Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois, and graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts.  When Jim returned to his home town, he asked for his former job and was re-hired the same day.  He was soon promoted to full-time assistant manager.

Even though Jim was happy in Oskaloosa, he was open to a new and different challenge in his career.  In 1992, Jim visited Fort Collins when he helped the Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. relocate to the square.  On January 1, 2006, Jim officially began his tenure at the Fort Collins, store.  As he gets to know the community, he has found ways to begin getting involved.  For example, he supports the Altzheimer’s Walk, Able Women Career Network, Homeless Gear, and Soles4Souls.
